Day 1: Heraklion / Heraklion
Arrival at Heraklion Airport. Pick up of your car rental. Overnight stay in Heraklion.
Day 2: Heraklion / Agios Nikolaos
Departure for eastern Crete. Stop at the archaeological site of the Palace of Malia. Continue to the Lassithi Plateau and visit the traditional villages of Krasi and Tzermiado. Overnight stay in Agios Nikolaos or the surrounding area.
Day 3: Agios Nikolaos
Visit the small fishing harbor of Elounda. Optional boat trip to the island of Spinalonga. Continue to the town of Sitia and visit the Monastery of Toplou. Discover the unique palm forest of Vai or explore the ruins of the Minoan Palace of Zakros. Overnight stay in Agios Nikolaos or the surrounding area.
Day 4: Agios Nikolaos / Plakias
Exploring southeastern Crete
A full day to explore the entire southeastern part of Crete, travelling from the east towards the centre of the island. Visit the Minoan Palace of Phaistos, the village of Viannos, and the ancient site of Gortys. Overnight stay in Plakias, Matala, or the surrounding area.
Day 5: Plakias / Chania
From the south to the north of Crete
The day begins with a journey from the south towards the north of Crete. Visit the Minoan cemetery of Armeni, the village of Spili, and the ancient village of Lappa with the natural springs of Argiroupolis. Overnight stay in Chania.
Day 6: Chania / Rethymno
Discovering the old town of Chania
A day dedicated to exploring the old town of Chania, with its Venetian harbor, historic fortifications, and covered market offering local products. Discover the Akrotiri peninsula, visit the Monastery of Agia Triada, and the Venizelos Tomb. Overnight stay in Rethymnon.
Day 7: Rethymno / Heraklion
Discovering Rethymnon and Heraklion
In Rethymnon, visit the old town, whose architecture reflects a rich and eventful past. Continue to Heraklion and visit the Minoan Palace of Knossos and the Archaeological Museum. Overnight stay in Heraklion.
